City police were with FBI agents and colleagues from other agencies who scooped up Myron V. Anderson Jr., 38, in West Orange around 2 p.m. Wednesday, they said.
Anderson is suspected in several North Jersey bank robberies, including one Monday at a TD branch in Sussex County.
Hackensack police said he also robbed a TD branch on River Street, near the FDU campus, of nearly $950 on Nov. 13.
Area schools were locked down as police searched him following the 9 a.m. holdup.
Wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a cap, Anderson "walked into the bank and walked over to a counter where he grabbed an envelope and wrote down a note, which he then handed to the teller," Capt. Peter Busciglio said. "The note demanded money."
No weapon was shown, the captain added.
The robber walked out with $938 and headed north on River Street, he said.
Anderson was transferred late Wednesday from the Keogh Dwyer Correction Facility in Newton (Sussex County) to the Bergen County Jail, where he was temporarily being held on an FBI warrant.
Ten years ago, he was caught robbing yet another TD Bank branch in Lakewood in Ocean County. Authorities at the time also charged him with a $4,000 First Trust bank holdup in Marlton.
Back then, as recently, Anderson used a note, authorities said.
